I have been jumping back between Pbase and Flickr and I'm thinking Flickr is going to be a better option for me. I really don't want to host my images myself as this site always seems to be in some type of transition and a stable gallery environment is a must. So, the past few days I have created a few galleries and added images. Check it out here. |

Marketing your photo services on the web is always a challenge. Just like everyone is a computer expert, everyone is also a "Photographer". Some people will think because they bought a high end digital, they can open up shop and be a a pro photographer. I know, I call myself a photographer, but I have a few credentials and have been published, even though I do not shoot full time. My "Marketing" consists of this page here and a few other links on Model Mayhem and Ujena Talent. I really shoot because I enjoy it and not because I am in it for the money. But, some of you are in it for the money, so I thought this discussion by Photographer Clark Brooks, may be some help. A couple of things I would add, make sure all your photos are tagged with a description, that way when Google searches are performed on images, your description will help when people do a keyword search. From this link Yellow page ads??? Forget it. If someone is still using the yellow pages to search for a photographer or services you don't want them as a customer most likely. If the client uses the web to find you, they have 'pre-qualified' themselves economically. It means they are computer saavy and likely have the income level to purchase your services. In your case your case here is what I would do in your shoes:
First off Joshua, you need to register the URL joshuasyphoto.com and have it point to your smugmug page. JoshuaSyphoto.smugmug.com is too long for people to remember and too easy to make a mistake when typing.

I decided to move all of my images to Pbase.com. After having to rebuild my gallery from scratch, I decided to let someone else do the hosting on the image side and Pbase seems like the best way to go. On a monthly basis it is quite cheap and they have really optimized their product for images searches. My daily hits went up substantially to my previous gallery. Gallery link to Pbase |

Vice President Dick Cheney and Air Force Two left town with quite a blast and it was a force to be reckoned with. The Secret Service warned members of the media of the the jet blast. As Air Force Two turns on the tarmac the media was hit by the jet blast and the rest is history. Equipment went flying as the Vice President made his departure. No one was injured, just a little surprised by the sheer force!!
